A Matrix Structure An Organization - 1334 Words

A matrix structure will not be successful if an organization’s employees are not trained with the ability and skills necessary to operate within the structure. Employees must have the right mindset and behaviors in order to operate in an environment that is constantly conflicted with multiple bosses and simultaneously pursuing multiple aims (Bartlett and Ghoshal, 1990; Ford and Randolph, 1992). The employees need to have the same goals within the organization so there is less competition among them. For example take two teams one is in marketing and one is in development if both of them have different goals to achieve this leads to conflict among both teams creating a dysfunctional workplace. These same employees also need to know exactly what their job requires them to do. The matrix structure adds flexibility to the organization but the company needs to make sure that the responsibilities of the top executives are not the only known responsibilities, those job indicators nee d to be exchanged between all levels of the workforce. The flexibility the structure provides can lead to untimely decisions. This is created by the fact that the matrix structure requires input and collaboration among its staff. The employees may have trouble deciding whose’ input is needed because the interpersonal skills of the employees is lacking leading to untimely decisions that could result in a loss of quality. Workplace Bullying: Abolish Negative Workplace Atmosphere Bullies are like chameleons. What they do and say may not always be visible, but their words and actions still impact another person’s life. Bullying does not stop once you graduate; however it continues on into the workplace. This must be stopped. Workplace bullying is inappropriate and it produces unbearable environments that lead to negative workplace atmospheres. The main people involved in the situation, the harmful and destructive effects on the victim and the chance to prevent bullying all tie the fact together that bullying should and can be stopped. Mistreatment is preventable and the amount of suffering it causes is unnecessary. Taking these points into consideration, it will overall show how the bullies, bystanders and victims all play a role in abolishing workplace bullying. Bullies, Bystanders and Victims According to Canadian Institutes of Health Research, 40% of Canadians have experienced workplace bullying that occurs on a weekly basis (2012). Prisons of the Future free essay sample

Will there be more people on probation or more people in jail? Yes to both, there will always be crime. Most likely a large increase in the near future due to the incredible rise in crime within the juvenile population, which in turn leads to more adult criminals. Our prison systems of the future need to be looked at from a proactive point of view before reforming the prisons themselves. Lawmakers need to look at making sure that the punishment fits the crime and then is carried out in the proper facilities. I feel that we should work closer and harder on rehabilitating the juvenile offenders. Be harder on the punishment and show them the importance of staying out the system, and hope that this makes them think twice about their life in crime. But if they do up in a detention center, then the center should have programs that instill work ethic and supply formal training to acclimate the offender into society. For every crime there has to be an appropriate sentence that can and will be upheld. I also think that there should be separate prisons for certain crimes. Those who commit a minor offence verses those who have committed a crime that is much more severe need to have different facilities. I also think that it would be a good idea for the prisoners to pay room and board and showing a sense of responsibility. I see a future where, every able bodied prisoner will be working to pay for his or her stay. After all, most of us non-criminals, have to pay for a roof over our heads, why shouldnt they? I see less jail time for minor offenses. Many misdemeanors will get weekend time, dismissal for first offense, or more creative ways to serve out a sentence; like trash pickup, or working or projects like rebuilding schools, highways or bridges on their off hours. This will keep them in the work force, keep them from running up a jail bill, keep us from having to pay to feed them, and still work off their fines. These things together would give the offenders a sense of self-worth and a feeling of being part of their communities. As for the courts putting someone on multiple life sentencing in a row, they should consider the death penalty a little more, Instead of wasting our taxes dollars. It is so hard to see or even think what our Justice systems will look like in the future with all the cuts that are being made. But I hope for our sake that they find something to work better then what we have right now.
